Very Rare Original Antique Victorian Minton Fireplace Tiles (c. 1863 to 1872) - Full Set
This is very rare find! It's a full set of 10 original antique Minton fireplace tiles. They have the Mintons China Works Stoke On Trent stamp on the back showing "Stoke Upon Trent Minton Walbrook London". This particular version of the stamp was used to mark tiles between 1863 and 1872.
The tiles are in good condition for their age with a beautiful pale pastel pink background. There is lovely crazing that can be found on tiles of this age that adds something special to the overall design not found in modern tiles.
Being traditional tiles they have imperial measurements of 6" x 6" x 1/2" (this translates to approximately 15.2cm x 15.2cm x 1.3cm).
One of the tiles (shown on the penultimate photo) has a chip off the corner and a small chip out of the bottom front of the tile. However these would not be seen once the tiles are inserted into a tile rack for installation into a cast iron fireplace as the bottom of the tile would be covered by the bottom of the rack.
