This is an original Edwardian cast iron fireplace surround with a wide, projecting mantel shelf and a distinctive curved centre. Beneath the layered mantel mouldings, narrow vertical motifs form a patterned band on either side of the arch. The central panel contains a symmetrical floral design, with a tall flower at its centre and curling stems, leaves and smaller blooms extending outwards.

Broad, largely plain uprights frame the rectangular opening, with moulded borders running down to simple block feet. These straight lines balance the curved decoration above, giving the surround a substantial appearance without the ornament overwhelming its shape.

The dark grey finish has lighter metallic highlights across the flat surfaces and raised details, making the floral casting and mouldings stand out against the darker recesses. The combination of geometric bands and flowing botanical decoration gives this surround its individual character. Its registration number is 367694.
